Polyonyx presented PolyOnyx: Who Needs Marble? a sculptural lighting collection showcased during Craft Victoria’s Craft Contemporary 2022 exhibition, Decontaminate the Discarded: Rewiring the Web.

This body of work explored the potential of recycled plastics as a high-end material, challenging conventional ideas of beauty and value in design. Through illuminated forms and translucent finishes, the collection asked: Can waste be as desirable as rare stone?

Each piece recontextualises plastic waste into something precious, capturing light, texture, and tactility in ways reminiscent of marble and onyx. The collection speaks to Polyonyx’s core mission: transforming the discarded into objects of lasting beauty.
